The EWIA acknowledges the assistance and support provided by the directors of the English Expert Witness Institute. However, the EWIA is completely independent of the English Institute and will address local Australian needs.

The Institute also acknowledges the preliminary work done by the Australian College of Legal Medicine, with whom we have remained in close contact.

Ongoing interest in the Institute has also been shown by senior members of the Australian judiciary and numerous individuals and organisations, including the medical indemnity insurer, United Medical Protection.

Since its establishment, the Institute has formed a relationship with the National Institute of Forensic Science - an eminent body established as a national Common Police Service.
